If you’re looking for a mechanical keyboard, you’ll be pleased to learn the the Das Keyboard 5Q is now available for pre-order. In case you’re wondering what separates the Das Keyboard 5Q from the other mechanical keyboards out there, it is largely due to one feature, which is that the keyboard is a cloud-connected keyboard.

Originally announced back in June, Das launched the Keyboard 5Q on Kickstarter in which it was successfully funded. The keyboard is connected to the cloud which means that it can light up certain keys to let you know of particular events. For example it can be used to display notifications about stock prices, auctions, and so on.

At the same time apart from its cloud-connected capabilities, the Das Keyboard 5Q is still a mechanical keyboard at heart and fans of Das’ products will be happy to learn that it will retain the features that made it great in the first place. The keyboard will use the Gamma-Zulu switches which was developed together with Omron, so if you were hoping for Cherry MX switches, you’ll have to look elsewhere.

Unfortunately the Das Keyboard 5Q does not come cheap and is priced at $229. This makes it more expensive than many mechanical keyboards out there, but if you reckon that the price is justified, then go ahead and place your order.
