oneplus-2-review-23Despite VoLTE not necessarily being new technology, there are still handsets out there that do not support the service. One of those handsets is OnePlus 2 in which VoLTE support has been missing from the phone. However if you recall, OnePlus did promise that support for the feature will be arriving soon, and sure enough it has.

In a post on the OnePlus forums, the company has announced the OxygenOS 3.5.5 OTA update for the handset. The update will introduce VoLTE support, although in the changelogs they do mention that it will only be for select carriers, so there’s a chance that while your carrier offers the feature, it might not support for the OnePlus 2. There was no mention of which carriers would support the feature so we guess users will just have to try their luck.

That being said, the update will do more than just bring VoLTE support. According to OnePlus, OxygenOS 3.5.5 will also introduce an app lock feature, battery saving mode, gaming mode, a redesigned volume adjustment bar, shelf optimizations, and overall tweaks to the OxygenOS UI, just to name a few.

As OnePlus points out, the rollout of the update is incremental which means that if you don’t see it offered to you right off the bat, not to worry as we’re sure that eventually it will find its way to your handset.
