samsung-payAt the moment Samsung Pay is only available on select Samsung handsets. However that is expected to change come 2017 as a report from Business Korea (via SamMobile) has revealed that in 2017, pretty much all of Samsung’s smartphones are expected to come with Samsung Pay preloaded onto it.

The report quotes an official from the company who said, “We have decided to pre-install Samsung Pay in Samsung Electronics’ smartphones to be released from next year.” Like we said, pretty much all of Samsung’s phones in 2017 onwards will have the feature preloaded, save for some handsets which might be too low-end to support the technology.

We’re not sure how Samsung plans on authenticating Samsung Pay with all these phones. One of the hardware features of Samsung’s flagships is that they come with a fingerprint sensor. This means that either Samsung needs to figure out another way of authenticating the payments, or they plan on introducing fingerprint sensors to almost their entire lineup.

Either way this is great news as it means that more Samsung users will get to use the service, and it also means that adoption of the platform could potentially be faster. As it stands Samsung Pay is available in U.S., Spain, Brazil, Singapore, Australia, China, and South Korea. Recently it launched in Malaysia where it is undergoing beta testing.
