surface-studio-lifestyle-3Announced back in October, Microsoft’s Surface Studio AIO desktop PC is basically the company’s answer to Apple’s iMac lineup, which by the way has not been updated in over a year, meaning that Microsoft’s timing is actually pretty good. It is possible that the numbers have proven that to be true as well, at least according to a report from DigiTimes.

According to the report, Microsoft had apparently kept their initial estimations pretty modest and had only ordered 15,000 units to be built. However it seems that reception has been great to the point where Microsoft increased those orders twofold to 30,000. In fact Microsoft seems pretty optimistic about the future and has reportedly placed another order for 30,000 units for the first quarter of 2017.

Now we should point out that these orders aren’t necessarily what was sold as these could simply be Microsoft stocking up on inventory. However at the same time it is possible to use it as a gauge of interest where it makes sense for Microsoft to only order as much as customers demand. Also these aren’t official figures as Microsoft has yet to reveal them, so take it with a grain of salt for now.

That being said, feedback regarding the new Surface Studio PCs have been largely positive, with many praising Microsoft’s new direction.
