According to a new report out of Taiwan, ASUS has a new ZenFone lineup in the pipeline. It’s claimed that the company is going to release the ZenFone 4 series in May this year. The company is also said to have increased the number of smartphones that it’s going to ship out this year in a bid to capture a bigger share of the highly competitive smartphone market.

Not much is known about the specifications of the new handsets but it’s understandable that the ZenFone 4 series will boast better hardware and features than the existing ZenFone 3 series.

The company has already confirmed two new handsets – the ZenFone 3 Zoom and the ZenFone AR – they’re expected to be launched formally by next month. However, ASUS itself if yet to confirm the actual timeframe.

ASUS shipped 17.5 million handsets last year which was a 14.6 percent decline compared to the previous year. As per the report, ASUS is looking to ship more than 20.5 million smartphones by the end of this year.

Whether or not it will be able to meet its targets for 2017 depends upon the fact that its devices perform well enough to get more customers to buy them. We’ll have to wait and see whether the ZenFone 4 series has that effect on prospective customers across the globe.
