google-voiceGiven that there are so many different VoIP services in the market at the moment, especially with messenger apps like WhatsApp introducing such services to their platform, we guess it is understandable if you might have forgotten about Google Voice, the company’s attempt at creating a VoIP platform of their own.

The service has been pretty functional so far but it hasn’t been updated in a long time, but the good news is that it appears that an update to Google Voice is in the works and should be released in the near future, at least that’s according to Google who confirmed that they are working on an update.

Speculation about an update first started when it was discovered that the Google Voice website was updated slightly with a new text banner that read, “The new Google Voice is here. TRY NOW.” However clicking the link simply returned users to the main website, but it certainly did herald that an update was coming.

Google has since released a statement in which they said, “Sorry, it looks like we must have dialed the wrong number! But don’t worry, this wasn’t a prank call. We’re working on some updates to Google Voice right now. We have you on speed dial and we’ll be sure to share what we’ve been up to just as soon as we can.”
