lyft_presskit_03As you might have heard, there is a #DeleteUber campaign going on at the moment. This is due to how the company responded to US President Donald Trump’s immigration ban, in which many users weren’t happy it and have responded by deleting their Uber apps and Uber accounts as a form of protest.

While Uber is probably one of the more prominent ride-hailing companies around, there are others such as Lyft who appear to have benefited from this campaign. According to the folks at App Annie, they have told The Verge that for the first time ever the number of daily iOS downloads for Lyft’s apps have doubled.

A subsequent report from TechCrunch also revealed that Lyft is currently ranked #4 on the iTunes App Store and is hanging out with other popular apps such as Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, and Facebook. Prior to this, the app was ranked #39 and that was on Saturday, so it is clear that the backlash Uber is facing is definitely working to Lyft’s advantage.

It is unclear as to how long this campaign will last and whether or not things will eventually subside and go back to normal, but for now we guess Uber’s loss is definitely Lyft’s gain.
