With Nintendo’s consoles, no matter what console is being announced, it’s almost a guarantee that we can expect a handful of staples to be announced for it. One of those games is the Mario Kart franchise that has appeared on multiple Nintendo consoles over the years, and it seems that Nintendo will be continuing that tradition.

Announced at the company’s presentation yesterday, Nintendo took the wraps off Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which will be launching for the Nintendo Switch. This is basically an updated version of Mario Kart 8 that will come with all the DLC tracks that were released for the Wii U version of the game. It will also introduce new characters and a new revamped Battle Mode, which confirms an earlier rumor.

For the most part the game looks like the same as its predecessor, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It will also introduce new characters to the lineup, which includes Inkling Girl and Inkling Boy from the Splatoon series. There will King Boo, Dry Bones, and Bowser Jr. to choose from, so we guess in a way it almost feels like a brand new game.

In terms of release, the bad news is that it will not be launching alongside the Nintendo Switch which is scheduled for a release on the 3rd of March, 2017. However gamers won’t have to wait too long because Nintendo has stated that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will be released the following month on the 28th of April. In the meantime you can check out the gameplay in the video above.
