[MWC 2017] It used to be that in the past, smartphone makers would try to do everything themselves, including developing software for use with the phone. Of course this isn’t always ideal, which is why in recent times we’re starting to see OEMs collaborate with developers to include apps on their phones.

Huawei is no stranger to collaborations and during MWC 2017 when they announced their new Huawei P10 and P10 Plus smartphones, GoPro also announced that they would be bundling their Quik mobile video editing app with the handsets. In fact it won’t be just limited to the P10 and P10 Plus, but pretty much all Huawei smartphones that are based on the Huawei EMUI 5.1 platform.

According to GoPro Founder and CEO, Nick Woodman, “The Quik app transforms your smartphone photos and videos into amazing edits with the press of a button. We’re excited to partner with Huawei to bring GoPro’s Quik app to HUAWEI P10 and HUAWEI P10 Plus devices, amongst others, providing them with a quick and easy way to share compelling stories on-the-go.”

Given that GoPro has a pretty good reputation and history with regards to videos, we guess it makes sense that their Quik app would be a useful app for editing videos on the go as well, so if you’re thinking of picking up a Huawei smartphone, then Quik is an app you can look forward to.
