Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is the much-awaited next installment in the famous franchise. Fans of the franchise have been waiting for the title for a very long time and there’s some bad news for them today. Publisher Bandai Namco has confirmed today that the Ace Combat 7 release date has now been delayed.

Ace Combat 7 was originally supposed to be released as a PlayStation 4 exclusive but Bandai Namco confirmed in January this year that the game will also be released for the Xbox One and PC this year. However, the game is going to have some content which will be exclusive to the PlayStation 4.

Ace Combat 7 producer Kazutoki Kono published an open letter to series fans today to explain why the decision to delay the Ace Combat 7 release has been made.

“The combination of the Unreal 4 Engine and the power of current generation consoles and PC hardware have literally opened the ‘skies of opportunity’ to us to develop the best Ace Combat experience to-date,” he said.

Bandai Namco has thus decided to delay the Ace Combat 7 release in the interest of taking full advantage of the gaming engine and providing players with an unmatched gaming experience that they’ve not seen before with the Ace Combat franchise.

More information about Ace Combat 7’s release is going to be shared by Bandai Namco at E3 2017 next month.
