As it stands there are a few JRPGs available for the Nintendo Switch, such as I Am Setsuna and Disgaea 5. However these titles are more like ports of games that were previously available on other platforms, so for those looking forward to a game that is developed with the Switch in mind, Square Enix has you covered.

The publisher has announced an upcoming JRPG in the form of the Lost Sphear that will be arriving on the Switch in 2018. The game is being developed by the Tokyo RPG Factory, who for those unfamiliar were also the developers behind I Am Setsuna, so if you loved their work there, you might be interested in the upcoming title.

According to the press release and description of the game, “The adventure of LOST SPHEAR begins in a remote town where a young boy, Kanata, awakens from a devastating dream to find his hometown disappearing. To stop the world from being lost forever, Kanata and his comrades set out to rebuild the world around them with the power of Memory by manifesting thoughts into matter.”

In addition to being available on the Switch, Lost Sphear will also be finding its way onto the PS4 and the PC via the PlayStation Store and Steam platforms respectively.
