You might have heard that back in April, over in Australia McDonald’s encouraged those who are interested in working for them to submit their applications via Snapchat. It appeared that the feature was only available in Australia at that time, but now it looks like McDonald’s will be bringing that particular hiring practice to the US.

The fast food chain is expected to start sending out direct invites to users today, and for those who are interested, they are welcome to submit a “Snaplication”. The company is aiming to hire workers aged 16-24, which interestingly enough is also the age group in which half of Snapchat’s users belong to. Coincidence? We think not.

There has been talk and some articles to suggest that Snapchat is a communications app that are clearly designed for the younger generation in mind. Its interface isn’t quite as intuitive or as familiar compared to more established messenger apps, and perhaps that’s the point. That being said, the application via Snapchat is only part of the process.

At the end of the day nothing quite beats a good old fashioned face-to-face interview, but at the very least McDonald’s will be grabbing the attention of the younger crowd who may or may not be thinking about getting a job for the summer.
