Despite Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challenge not necessarily being a new title per se in the Street Fighter franchise, it seems that gamers on the Nintendo Switch lapped it up where according to Capcom, the game was considered to be a “smash hit”. In fact it seems Capcom is so pleased with the platform that they are now planning more titles for it.

This is according to a recent tweet by The Wall Street Journal’s Takashi Mochizuki who wrote, “Capcom: 450K is 1Q figure for Ultra Street Fighter II, above its expectation. Also “starting to prepare” multiple Switch-version titles.” Unfortunately it is unclear as to what kind of games we can expect to see from Capcom, and whether or not they’ll be new franchises or if they will be ports from existing franchises, or remakes of older titles (like they did with Street Fighter).

However if you were hoping to see Resident Evil as one of the franchises that Capcom could bring to the Switch, earlier this year the game’s producer ruled it out. It was stated that while the Switch was a unique piece of hardware, there are no plans to bring Resident Evil onto the Switch.

Then again that was in January this year, and who knows perhaps the success of Street Fighter on the Switch could see Capcom change their mind. However even if they don’t, there are still plenty of other Capcom titles that we wouldn’t mind seeing arrive for the Switch anyway.
