A recent report out of China has suggested that Nokia will be launching a bunch of new phones before the end of the year. Given that Nokia has been out of the game for a couple of years, it seems that HMD Global is trying to make up for lost time. According to the report, one of the rumored handsets is the Nokia 2.

Based on the model numbers, the Nokia 2 is certainly quite far down the ranks and is rumored to be a low-end handset, which has since apparently been “confirmed” thanks to Geekbench benchmark results in which some of the phone’s specs have been revealed. The benchmark results were shared by Twitter user @krispitech who reveals additional specs of the phone.

According to the tweet, the Nokia 2 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 chipset and will come with 1GB of RAM. It is unclear as to what the rest of the phone’s specs will be, like its display size, camera, and so on, but we suppose given that it is an entry-level device, we probably shouldn’t expect too much.

That being said, HMD has recently sent out invites to an event for the 16th of August in which the Nokia 8 is expected to be announced. We’re not sure if the Nokia 2 will be announced then as well, but check back with us in the coming weeks for the details if there are any to be had.
