When the Nintendo Switch was first announced, many were surprised when they spotted footage of what appeared to be Skyrim playing on the console. For some reason neither Nintendo nor Bethesda could confirm it despite the fact that it was pretty obvious, but at E3 2017, it was pretty much a done deal.

For those who are curious as to what the game might look like on the Switch if you were actually playing it, YouTuber FILIP has uploaded a video of Skyrim being played on the Switch in handheld mode. For starters it is pretty cool because being such a big game, it did seem like a huge win for Nintendo to get the game running on the Switch.

Secondly the handheld mode offers up a unique playing style that is different from the other styles that were offered from before. It’s a bit hard to judge the quality of the graphics based on this video since we are looking at a recording of a screen, but FILIP claims that the game looks “gorgeous” with a steady framerate.

The version of Skyrim on the Switch will come with all of its released DLCs thrown in for free, much like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, so if you’ve never played the game before, the Switch version could be worth your consideration. There is still no set release date for the game but it should be out by the end of the year.
