Instagram has long supported comments, but the problem with Instagram’s comments is that each comment is its own thread, meaning that unless you tag the person you’re replying to, it can sometimes get lost in the stream of comments, especially on popular photos, which is why Instagram is introducing comment threads.

As you can see in the screenshots above, comment threads are exactly what their name suggests, which is where users can reply to comments and create their own conversation, that way you know that certain comments are related to each other. This isn’t exactly a new feature as we have seen that done with platforms such as Facebook, but we guess it’s good to see it arrive for Instagram as well.

According to instagram, “Comment threads help you keep track of conversations and make it easy to respond to a specific thread. This update will make your feed an even better place to share interests, get inspired and connect with others. Now, when you hit reply underneath any comment, your response will automatically be grouped right underneath it in a thread.”

Instagram says that the feature should be rolled out globally in the coming weeks, so just make sure that you are using the latest version of Instagram on your iOS or Android device and you should be able to take advantage of it.
