The Nintendo Switch has been doing pretty well for the company and represents a huge change from the situation that Nintendo was facing with the Wii U several years ago. Recently we learned that over in Japan, the Switch managed to sell 1.5 million units, which when taken into account the overall sales has amounted to 5 million units sold worldwide.

This is according to a report from VGChartz (via MP1ST) who claims that the Switch has managed to break past the 5 million mark worldwide, or to be more specific, the Switch has managed to sell 5,195,578 units. We can’t say for sure if these figures are accurate since they are not official, but VGChartz has in the past proven to be reliable so maybe they could be right. The report also goes on to add that 10,106,874 games has been sold for the Switch at retail.

In their report, they go on to breakdown where the Switch has performed the best in, which at the moment appears to be the US where the console has sold over 1.7 million units, following by Europe which is said to be close 1.4 million units. However it seems that their figures for Japan are a bit different from the previous report, in which VGChartz claims 1.2 million units.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is also the console’s top selling game at retail with an estimated 3.37 million units, followed by Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at 2.6 million units, and Splatoon 2 at 1.1 million units.
