Wireless charging is not new. In fact you could consider it to be somewhat mature, although in typical Apple fashion, it took the Cupertino company years before they finally adopted it with this year’s iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and iPhone X. Given that Apple has decided to adopt the Qi standard, it also means that existing Qi wireless chargers will play nicely with the devices as well.

In fact there are actually cars that do come with built-in wireless charging, and if this is something you might be interested in for your next car purchase, Apple has actually done its customers a favor by listing carmakers that do offer wireless charging in their vehicles on its website (via 9to5Mac). This includes Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Ford, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, PSA, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo. However not all models from these companies offer wireless charging, so you will have to double check whether it is an option offered.

Apple has also listed cars by Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GM that do come with wireless charging, which includes the 2018 GMC Terrain, 2018 GMC Yukon, 2018 GMC Sierra, 2018 Chevrolet Bolt, 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, 2018 Chevrolet Suburban, 2018 Cadillac Escalade, and the 2018 Buick Enclave.

So if you’re in the market for a new car and would like to take wireless charging features into account as one of the factors that will influence your decision, perhaps this list might of be interest to you.
