Save for maybe Wonder Woman, DC’s movies haven’t exactly found the same level of success as Marvel’s has, although with quite a few new movies in the pipeline, we guess there’s still hope. Now if you’re looking forward to a new DC movie, a report from TheWrap has indicated that DC Entertainment is expected to move forward with a standalone “Deathstroke” movie.

For those unfamiliar, there were talks that a Deathstroke film could be in the works where Ben Affleck was supposed to direct it. However the report now claims that Gareth Evans (director for Indonesian action movie “The Raid”) will be the one to direct it instead. In fact last year Affleck released a teaser showing Joe Manganiello as the character, and the report suggests that Manganiello is expected to continue to star in the movie.

After Affleck had stepped down, Matt Reeves was supposed to take over and shelved Affleck’s script and started over, but Evans apparently managed to impress DC execs with his pitch that they decided to give it to him. Deathstroke, who also goes by Slade Wilson, is a DC comic book villain. The character has actually appeared on TV before on the TV series “Arrow” where he is portrayed by Manu Bennett.

It is unclear when the standalone Deathstroke movie will be released, but suffice to say that it won’t be anytime soon so don’t hold your breath just yet.
