Samsung’s recent Android-powered devices provide users with a variety of methods to hide sensitive data on their smartphones. Features like Secure Folder are great for those who would like to keep some content hidden away on their device. Samsung is now offering an easier way to hide multimedia content, one that doesn’t involve passwords or authentication using the fingerprint sensor. It’s more for reducing clutter in the app, though.

Samsung has rolled out an update for its default Gallery app. The updated app brings the ability to hide entire albums.

The feature can be accessed by tapping on the three dot button on the top right corner after the app has been updated. Users then need to tap on the Hide albums option and select the albums that they don’t want to be displayed in the gallery. Tapping on Hide will make them disappear.

The same procedure has to be repeated in order to bring back the hidden albums. Users should keep in mind that Samsung only allows them to hide folders created by third-party applications such as Instagram or Twitter.

Clearly, this feature is more for reducing clutter in the Gallery app than it is to keep something hidden away securely. For that, users still have to rely on features like Private Mode and Secret Mode.

The updated Gallery app is rolling out now and is available for download from Galaxy Apps and the Google Play Store.
