Latest Waze Update Includes Additional Support For Voice Commands

Using your phone while driving is clearly not a good idea, and companies like Waze have built in features to prevent users from using the app while driving. However what if you wanted to find a new route? What if you decided that you wanted to go somewhere else, or find an alternative route to your destination, what then?

The good news is that in an announcement by Waze, the company has revealed several changes that they’re making to the app, one of which includes support for voice commands. Dubbed “Talk to Waze”, it allows users to command the app by saying, “OK Waze,” which expands on the voice commands already available in the app.

According to Waze, “An evolution of our existing Waze Voice Commands, you can now initiate your drive, get a preview of the route ahead, send reports, and add a pit stop—all without lifting a finger from the wheel. Not only is it convenient, it’s safer, allowing you to stay focused on the road ahead.”

In addition to the voice command support, there is also support for finding HOV lanes, and also a new “motorcycle mode”. This helps motorcyclists find routes and navigational directions that are optimized for them based on the experience of actual motorcyclists. The update should already be live, but note that not all of the features will be available globally and will be limited to certain markets.
