Waze does an excellent job at letting drivers know which are the best routes to take to avoid the jam, road blocks, accidents, tolls, and so on. However, sometimes during the winter, roads become covered in snow which in turn creates problems as well, but Waze is here to help with a new feature.

In an update to the iOS and Android app, Waze will be adding a new feature in the form of unplowed roads. This means that when you’re driving and if the road ahead is unplowed, you will be notified of it. There will also be a feature for users to report unplowed roads which in turn will also alert nearby drivers.

This means that with this new feature, drivers will not suddenly find themselves driving into snowy roads that have yet to be cleared, which can be dangerous. This feature is thanks to a recommendation by the Virginia Department of Transportation. Users will be notified the same way like they would if there was an accident through the use of an on-screen icon.

The update should already be live so if you haven’t downloaded it yet, you can head on over to the iOS App Store or Google Play for the download.
