For those who are fans of the Star Wars franchise and wouldn’t mind playing Star Wars-related games on their mobile devices, you’ll be interested to learn that Disney has announced a new game called Star Wars: Rivals, an action shooter title that will be available for both iOS and Android devices.

According to the game’s description, “Confront your rivals in the first real-time Star Wars competitive action shooter designed specifically for your mobile device. Master your skills in cover-based PvP skirmishes and climb the ranks of the Arena Leagues, unlocking a cast of legendary Star Wars heroes.”


Note that the game itself is free for download, but there are various in-app purchases that you can make if you’d like to get a headstart. Given the backlash that EA faced with Star Wars Battlefront 2, it’s surprising that the decision to include in-app purchases for this game. Whether or not it’ll be worth your money remains to be seen, but it’s an option for those who are interested.

Note that right now the game is only available on iOS devices with the Android version expected to be released soon, so do keep an eye out for it if it’s something you might be interested in playing.
