Microsoft Edge Beta Coming To The iPad Later This Month

Last year Microsoft announced that they would be bringing its Edge browser onto iOS devices, but unfortunately the initial release seemed catered more towards iPhone users. However the good news is that it looks like Microsoft could be getting ready to test out a beta version of the Edge browser for the iPad.

This is according to a tweet by Microsoft’s Sean Lyndersay in which he wrote, “Shh, don’t tell anyone, but the iPad version is in internal testing and looking great. It’ll take a little longer to bake, so we’re going to roll out it to our TestFlight users early next month and get feedback from them before making it widely available. Thanks for using Edge!”

Insider Paul Thurrott also adds that the version for the iPad is expected to emulate that of the Edge browser on Windows 10, which makes sense given that the iPad has a larger display area which means that it doesn’t necessarily have to be constrained in its UI unlike smartphones. This cannot be confirmed yet but we suppose we’ll find out soon enough when the beta is released.

In terms of features, we expect that the iPad version will be similar to the version on the iPhone. Whether or not Microsoft will include more features catered towards tablet users is unclear, but either way it’s just another option for users who don’t want to use Apple’s Safari browser.
