If you grew up in the early days of computing, there might be a video game franchise called “Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?” (also known as Carmen Sandiego) that you might be familiar with. The franchise has been expanded to include a cartoon series and TV shows, and it looks like it will be getting its own live-action movie too.

This is according to a report from Deadline in which it has been reported that Netflix has acquired the rights to a live-action movie of the franchise. Carmen Sandiego will be played by Gina Rodriguez, who for those unfamiliar is in the show “Jane the Virgin” in which she won a Golden Globe award for.

The movie is said to be in its early stage and it is unclear who will be directing the movie or who will be penning its script. Also apart from Rodriguez, it was not mentioned who else might also be starring in the film. Also note that this is not the only Carmen Sandiego project that Netflix is working on

The live-action movie will be an extension of the brand in which Netflix is also producing an animated series based on the character, and Rodriguez will also be voicing the main character. In any case we suppose it will probably be a while before we see anything, so fans of the franchise will just have to remain patient.
