It was already expected that Avengers: Infinity War was going to be a hit and when the critics reviews started pouring in, it became evident that this could possibly be one of the best performing movies at the box office ever. That has turned out to be true that Marvel’s latest superhero film has shattered the record for the highest box-office total in its debut weekend.

Avengers: Infinity War has pulled in $250 million on its opening weekend, according to Deadline, comfortably beating Star Wars: The Force Awakens which clinched this record in 2015 when it earned $247 million on its opening weekend.

The latest numbers from Box Office Mojo reveal that the film earned $39 million on Thursday night followed by $106 million the very next day. It had a record-breaking Saturday with an $83 million rake thus finishing a very successful opening in the United States.

The movie has been a hit internationally as well where it has earned $380 million over the weekend. Avengers: Infinity War has thus had a $630 million global opening.

Avengers: Infinity War is likely going to hold the top spot at the box office for the next few weeks before it encounters some competition. Other hotly anticipated movies such as Deadpool 2 are going to hit screens in the coming weeks.
