LG announced last week that it would start rolling out the LG G6 Oreo update in the next few days and the company has followed up on its promise today. It has started rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the LG G6. The latest firmware update for this handset also bumps up its custom skin version up to 6.0.

LG has started the Oreo rollout for the LG G6 from its home country of South Korea. That’s where it has started rolling out the update over-the-air today so it’s likely going to take some time before the update goes live in other markets across the globe.

LG recently made a pledge to speed up Android updates for its handsets. The company has even set up a Software Upgrade Center that’s going to be responsible for pushing out updates in a timely fashion.

The LG G6 Oreo update is the first firmware release to come out of the Software Upgrade Center and it’s certainly going to be the first of many. While the firmware rollout is only limited to South Korea at this point in time, it’s only a matter of time before the LG G6 gets Oreo in other markets as well.
