Samsung is a leader in the global smartphone market and is often ahead of the trends. Even when it’s not, the company is quick to jump on the bandwagon to counter what its rivals are doing. Since some of its rivals have now launched gaming smartphones, a new rumor out of China claims that a Samsung gaming smartphone is being developed as well.

The company’s flagship smartphones like the Galaxy S9 are already quite capable of running some of the most powerful mobile games that you’ll find on the Play Store but gaming smartphones go beyond that.

Take the ROG Phone by Asus for example. It runs on a version of the Snapdragon 845 that’s clocked higher than the one in the Galaxy S9. It also features a 2,160×1080 AMOLED display with HD and 90Hz support with a response rate of 1ms. It also has three USB Type-C ports in addition to a 4,000mAh battery. Asus even threw in a fancy new cooling system for the smartphone.

The rumor out of China only claims that a Samsung gaming smartphone is being developed. No further information is available right now about its specifications and how the company might set it apart from the likes of the ROG Phone and the Razer Phone and its 120Hz display.
