Apple’s new MacBook Pros with the Touch Bar aren’t cheap, although for the price that you pay, some level of quality is expected, right? Unfortunately for some 2018 MacBook Pro owners, it doesn’t seem that  way because there are a few reports of these owners experiencing crackling speakers.

According to the reports, these crackling speakers don’t seem to be limited to any particular model and affect both the 13-inch and 15-inch models. It is unclear as to what could be the problem as some users are experiencing this playing music via iTunes, while others claim it happens while using GarageBand, or some while playing a YouTube video.

Some are also claiming that this crackling sound occurs when using Windows via Boot Camp, which when you combine all of these factors together, creates a lot of variables that would make the problem a little tricky to try and pin down. It has been suggested that it could be a software issue as at least one user claims that the latest macOS Mojave beta has fixed it, but that has yet to be confirmed.

We’re not sure if this is a widespread issue so it is unclear if this warrants a recall or if a simple software fix will do the trick, or if these users are eligible to exchange their laptops for a new one. Either way we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information about the problem and hopefully Apple will have some answers soon.
