Sometimes ads can be annoying because depending on how they’re implemented, they can be distracting and intruding, but what if ads were interactive and could do more than just advertise a product? If this sounds like something that could entice you to try out an app or a game, Facebook has recently launched its playable ads.

Playable ads aren’t a new feature and have actually been around for a while. In fact Google themselves launched such a feature called Instant Apps, although Facebook did announce their plans for such ads earlier this year which we guess are finally live. As the name suggests, these are ads that users can interact with and play portions of a game on.

The idea behind such ads is to give players a chance to try out the game without actually having to download the app. This means that users can save themselves time and also data. Granted it won’t be the complete experience, but hopefully it should be enough to make gamers want to download and buy the full app.

Speaking to GamesBeat, Rick Kelly, vice president of gaming at Facebook said, “With 6 million apps on the app stores, it’s super hard to get discovered. Companies are shifting from volume to quality users, and it’s imperative we give them the tools to do that.”
