Over the years, Google has launched a variety of products and services. Some, such as Gmail, have stuck around, while others have either been discontinued, faded away to obscurity, or rebranded/repackaged into something else. Google News & Weather is the latter and according to reports, it seems that the service is now prompting users to make the switch to Google News.

For those who are still using the service, you might have noticed a new banner that is prompting you to make the switch to Google News which was announced earlier this year during Google I/O 2018. The app itself is no longer available for download via the Play Store, but unsurprisingly given how many users have gotten used to the app, there are many who are still using it.

There is also the fact that the old app has a non-algorithmic feed, which some might prefer instead of being suggested articles about topics Google thinks they might be interested in. That being said, the app is still functional although we wouldn’t be surprised if Google were to issue an update at a later point in time that would render it useless, so maybe making the switch now and getting used to the new layout and features might be a good idea.
