There has never been an iPhone with dual SIM support even though there’s considerable demand for this feature in some markets across the globe. No wonder major Android manufacturers offer this functionality in their flagship smartphones. This might change in 2018 as multiple reports have claimed that dual SIM iPhones are up Apple’s sleeve. The company’s carrier partners in China have also started teasing an impending launch of dual SIM iPhones.

Apple hasn’t confirmed or denied any reports concerning iPhones with dual SIM support. The company’s press event is going to take place tomorrow where it will unveil the new devices and only then will it be known for sure if dual SIM support is present.

China Mobile, one of the largest carriers in the country, has posted an illustration of the apple fruit with two SIM cards. The text on top says “New Apple with dual SIM?” and the bottom extols the virtues of having multiple SIMs running simultaneously on one device.

There’s also a leaked ad from China Telecom which says that “New iPhone coming soon, dual SIM support, I’ve been waiting for you.” Two of the country’s largest mobile carriers are now teasing dual SIM support for the upcoming iPhone.

It’s pertinent to mention here that these leaks have only emerged from China so far which could mean that the dual SIM iPhones may only be offered in limited markets in China. Apple has been facing tough competition in the People’s Republic from local rivals and adding dual SIM support could be one of the ways it may try to retain its user base in the country.
