Recently thanks to hints spotted in the latest iOS 12 beta, it was suggested that Apple could be working on bringing dual SIM functionality to their iPhones. However it was not mentioned as to whether or not this could be a feature available to all iPhone models, or if it could be limited to certain models, and for certain markets.

If you were hoping to see a dual SIM iPhone in the US, you might be disappointed to learn that might not be happening. A report from Economic Daily News (via 9to5Mac) has revealed that the dual SIM model will be exclusive to China, and that the dual SIM model is only applicable to the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, which is one of the three rumored models Apple is said to launch this year.

As 9to5Mac points out, this report is different from that of notable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who had previously suggested that dual SIM functionality will be coming to the 6.5-inch iPhone model instead. That being said, the latest report claims that the 6.1-inch model will have a single SIM option for the rest of the world, and that the dual SIM model will just be a China exclusive.

Take it with a grain of salt for now but this doesn’t sound very encouraging for those who were hoping to get their hands on a dual SIM iPhone. Either way we should find out soon enough as Apple is expected to officially announce the new iPhones come September.
