Scanning documents using our phones is pretty easy and straightforward, and it is also possible to scan text to make it into an editable copy. However for those dealing with spreadsheets, you might be interested to learn that Microsoft’s Excel productivity app for Android could soon be able to scan images of data tables and converts them into an editable spreadsheet.This feature was announced by Microsoft in which in an upcoming feature called “Insert Data from Picture”, Microsoft says “you can take a picture of a hand-drawn or printed data table with your Android device and convert that analog information into an Excel spreadsheet with a single click. New image recognition functionality automatically converts the picture to a fully editable table in Excel, eliminating the need for you to manually enter data.”
This means that if you’re taking notes or if you have printed material that you’d like to be able to convert into an Excel spreadsheet that can later be edited, you will soon be able to do that via Excel. The feature is actually live for a preview in the Android app, but for those who aren’t on the preview, Microsoft does not state when the feature will be made available but hopefully it won’t be too long into the future.
