Instagram Could Soon Let You Tag Friends In Videos

On Instagram, users can tag their friends in photos. All you have to do is tap on the photo, type in their username, and you’re good to go. Unfortunately tagging in video has not been possible, at least not directly. Instead what users have been doing is tagging their friends in the caption of the video instead.

However for those who want to be able to tag friends in the video itself (which will show up in the tagged section of your profile), it seems that you will soon be able to do just that. In a report from TechCrunch, it appears that a small percentage of Instagram users are now able to access the ability to tag their friends in video.

Instagram has confirmed that this is a feature that they are testing out, and in a boilerplate statement they made to the publication, a spokesperson said, “We’re always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and bring you closer to the people and things you love.” Unfortunately there are no details on the feature at the moment but given that this is a test, we expect that it could change upon its full release, if and when that happens.

That being said, we wouldn’t be surprised if this feature were to make it to the mainstream, especially with Instagram starting to focus more on videos with the launch of its IGTV platform that allows users to post long-form videos.
