Disney’s strategy for Star Wars is to try and put as much out there as possible in between the main releases. We’ve been treated to titles like Rogue One, the Han Solo movie, and as you might recall, earlier this year it was confirmed that there would also be a standalone Boba Fett movie.

Unfortunately for fans of the bounty hunter, it seems that the character won’t be getting a second lease on life on the big screen because according to a tweet by reporter Erick Weber, it seems that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed to him that the Boba Fett movie is dead, much like the character from the movie.

Instead it seems that Disney wants to focus more on The Mandolarian, which for those unfamiliar is a live-action Star Wars TV series that will be written and produced by Jon Favreau. Now some might be asking what the connection is between the series and the movie, and why would a TV series end up cancelling a movie? Based on an Instagram post by Favreau, it seems that the series and the show’s protagonist might have something to do with Boba Fett, so maybe Disney did not want the movie and series to overlap each other.

Plus TV series does allow for the character to be better fleshed out and opens up the door for more potential movies. Either way if you were a fan of the bounty hunter, then we guess the next best thing would (presumably) be The Mandolarian.
