Last month Microsoft announced that Amazon’s Alexa digital assistant would be arriving for the Xbox One. Now it looks like both Microsoft and Amazon are further cementing their partnership as Amazon appears to now be bundling a free Echo Dot device with every purchase of the Xbox One console (including the Xbox One S and the Xbox One X).

The Echo Dot normally costs $49 which means that this is actually a pretty good deal, and if you were planning on buying the Xbox One already then this really seems like good value for money. The Echo Dot might not be as feature rich compared to other Echo devices like the Echo Show, but if you’re looking for a simple way to control your smart home devices, it should be more than capable of getting the job done.

Of course Microsoft is probably expecting and hoping that users will use the Echo Dot and Alexa to control the Xbox One. For example gamers will be able to tell Alexa to turn the console on/off, adjust the volume, launch games and various apps, start broadcasts, capture screenshots, and so on, which could come in handy if you’d rather not pause the game since you can just use your voice. If this sounds like something you might be interested in, then head on over to Amazon’s website to get your hands on the bundle which also comes with a free copy of NBA 2K19.
