As our phone screens are getting bigger, it means it has become harder to use them with one hand, unless you are blessed with big hands or long fingers. However if one-handed usage is something you want but don’t have particularly big hands, then maybe you might want to consider using Google’s Gboard.

According to Android Police, it seems that Google has recently updated the app where they have introduced a floating keyboard option to the app. Basically what this does as you can see in the screenshots above is that it lets users position the keyboard anywhere on their screen. This means that you can position the keyboard in a place on the screen that you might be able to reach better.

Now this isn’t exactly to say that this is a new feature per se. Apple’s iOS also has a feature that lets users shift the keyboard to the left/right part of the screen for better one-handed usage, but in Gboard’s case, it is more flexible and dynamic as you could essentially place it anywhere you’d like.

That being said, Android Police notes that not all users are seeing the changes yet. Some are claiming that they are seeing it so perhaps Google is either testing it out, or they are rolling it out in stages, but either way keep an eye out for it if this is a feature you think would come in handy.
