Google Assistant already allows you to perform a wide variety of functions using just voice commands. The things it can do in response to your voice command include but are certainly not limited to streaming music, checking up on the news, controlling smart home devices, and even purchasing products. It will now be able to let you make in-app purchases using voice commands.

Developers have been given the ability to allow their app users to purchase digital goods such as in-app purchases through voice commands. Their users will also be able to get one-time purchases such as new levels and expansion packs in addition to recurring subscriptions by using just voice commands that they give to Google Assistant.

Users will be able to do this using Google Assistant through smartphones, smart speakers, and smart displays. Really any device that it’s available on. It will only be possible in the United States initially but will eventually be opened up in other markets as well.

For instance, Headspace is now allowing users on Android to subscribe to their plans through voice commands given to Assistant. Users just have to give it a command like “meditate with Headspace,” and then follow up with subsequent commands based on the on-screen prompts.
