It was largely expected that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would begin filming in 2019. However due to the movie’s director James Gunn having been let go by Disney, last we heard back in August, production had been put on hold. Fast forward two months later, unfortunately it doesn’t seem like any progress has been made.

A tweet by reporter Erick Weber has revealed that the movie’s status is still on hold. This is according to Weber who spoke to Marvel’s Kevin Feige who confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still on hold, although there was no mention of when it is expected to resume production and if it could still start filming in 2019.

The movie was also expected to be released in 2020, but if they do not start filming next year there is a good chance that they might not be able to make that date. To complicate matters, Dave Bautista who plays Drax in the movie has publicly criticized Disney’s decision to fire Gunn and has hinted that he might want out of his contract.

In the meantime Gunn is said to have since jumped ships to DC where he is expected to write and possibly direct Suicide Squad 2, with Bautista having since expressed his interest in landing a role there.
