When Netflix first announced Iron Fist, it was criticized for its choice of casting and the first season did little to appease the critics as many seemed to dislike the show. This is versus the other Marvel series launched on Netflix which had received pretty favorable reviews. However to Netflix and Marvel’s credit, Iron Fist’s second season was a huge improvement.

Unfortunately it looks like Netflix has decided that the second season’s success wasn’t enough to save it and have announced that the series would be killed off. In a statement made to IGN, Netflix confirmed the cancellation of the series, but seemed to hint that maybe the character of Danny Rand/Iron Fist could still live on, which we can only assume might come in the form of appearances in other Marvel Netflix shows.

“Marvel’s Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners. We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we’ve shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the Immortal Iron Fist will live on.”

So far Daredevil is the only series out of all of the Marvel Netflix series that will be getting a third season. The other shows such as Jessica Jones and Luke Cage have two seasons under their belts, while The Punisher is still on season one (season 2 has been confirmed but yet to launch).
