Recently there seems to be a trend in which companies are starting to create smartphones designed for gaming. At the moment there doesn’t seem to be much that differentiates these phones from regular high-end flagship smartphones, although last we heard Samsung apparently wanted in as well.

In fact according to a post on Weibo by leakster Ice Universe (via PhoneArena), Samsung’s gaming smartphone is expected to be different from the competition by having its own custom GPU. We have heard reports in the past few years that Samsung was developing its own custom GPU and it looks like this GPU could debut in the company’s gaming smartphone.

If that is true, then it definitely looks like Samsung will have an advantage over the competition. Right now there are gaming phones from the likes of Razer in which they are differentiating themselves with a 120Hz display refresh rate. ASUS has also tossed their hat into the ring with the ROG Phone, although admittedly we’re not sure what exactly qualifies these phones to be considered “gaming phones”.

In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but Samsung has confirmed that they’ll be hosting its Developers Conference in November. It is expected that the company’s foldable phone could make its debut there, so it is possible that maybe the gaming phone could be announced then too, but until then take it with a grain of salt.
