OnePlus has never tied up with a mobile carrier for a new smartphone launch. It has been looking to change that and the first step in that direction has now been taken. Verizon has reportedly certified the OnePlus 6T which means that the handset would support the country’s’ largest mobile network.

PCMag hears from sources that the OnePlus 6T has breezed through Verizon’s certification labs. This means that the upcoming OnePlus device will be the first handset from the company to support Verizon’s wireless network.

It has been reported earlier as well that this will be the first OnePlus smartphone to have a carrier deal in the United States. Those reports have lent more credibility with Verizon now believed to have given its approval for the device in its network.

Verizon support would be a big stepping stone for the company to further expand its presence in the United States. OnePlus is also said to be working on a partnership with T-mobile details of which will be provided when the phone is unveiled on October 29th.

This also means that OnePlus customers who purchase the OnePlus 6T online will now be able to choose from network options that include Verizon and AT&T. No word as yet on the pricing and release of the OnePlus 6T.
