It has been a while since Android 9 Pie was released by Google and many OEMs are in the process of finalizing the update for their devices. ASUS has now revealed when one of the handsets in its ZenFone series will get the update. The ZenFone 5Z will receive its Android 9 Pie update in January next year.

The ASUS ZenFone 5Z was launched earlier this year and it came with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. It was always a given that the handset would be updated to the next iteration of Android as devices are supported for the next two major Android OS updates.

ASUS has confirmed that the ZenFone 5Z Android Pie update release will take place towards the end of January 2019. The firmware update will be sent out over the air for the device. Android 9 Pie will bring a variety of new features to the ZenFone 5Z in addition to a new user interface.

The company hasn’t provided any details of the features that it’s going to be included in the update but users can expect all features that are part and parcel of Pie to be included in this firmware release. The update will likely roll out in phases so it may take a while to be available for all users.
