HMD Global has been rather quick to roll out the Android 9 Pie update for its compatible devices. The Nokia 7.1 got the Pie update just yesterday. Many have been wondering when the Nokia 8 would be updated. It appears that the Nokia 8 Android Pie update release may not be that far off.

HMD Global did confirm several weeks ago that it was going to release the Android 9 Pie update for the Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco in November. We’re almost at the end of the month and the update hasn’t arrived as yet.

It may not be long before HMD Global releases it after all. The Nokia 8 has been spotted on Geekbench running Android 9 Pie. Such listings are taken as a solid indication that the manufacturer is testing the device on the new firmware.

The updates tend to roll out not long after their listings start appearing online. The Nokia 8’s outing on Geekbench running Android Pie suggests that the company might release the much-awaited update for all users by early December. It may roll out the update for both the Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco simultaneously.

A confirmed release date is yet to be provided by HMD Global but going by the good job it has done so far of rolling out the Pie update, it may only be a matter of time before Nokia 8 owners get their slice of Pie as well.
