As many have heard by now, Telltale Games has officially shut down. The announcement was rather sudden and surprised many, especially gamers who were probably looking forward to concluding and wrapping up the final season for Telltale’s The Walking Dead game, although thankfully Skybound later announced that they would be picking up where Telltale left off.

For those wondering about the state of the game, Skybound has since posted an update in which they announced that work on the final season was underway and that they will be sharing release dates soon. “After Telltale shut its doors, the game was, unfortunately, unable to be worked on and hence the release dates of Episodes 3 and 4 have been delayed. But, we’re excited to let you know that many of the talented, passionate team members who originally worked on the game are resuming development efforts today!”

If you’re unfamiliar with the status about the game, basically Telltale released the first two episodes in the four episode season before they announced that they would be shutting down. Skybound later announced that they would be picking up where Telltale left off, meaning that they would be working on the final two episodes of the game, which as per their announcement, release dates are expected to be revealed soon.

In a way it is rather fitting that Skybound is finishing off the remaining episodes. The studio is actually a subsidiary of Skybound Entertainment whose co-founder is Robert Kirkman, one of the creators of The Walking Dead comics which was later adapted into a TV series.
