Recently we have been hearing rumors about the Nokia 9 PureView, which for those unfamiliar is an Android smartphone that will be packing a penta-lens camera design. Based on the leaks we’ve been seeing so far, it seems like the phone is ripe for an official announcement, which now we are hearing could set for an end January 2019 announcement.

This is according to Russian sources (via GSMArena) who claims that HMD Global could make the announcement then. What’s interesting about this is that the end of January seems to be an in between of CES 2019, which takes place in the early part of 2019, and MWC 2019 which will be taking place in February. This means that the phone will be skipping both events.

In terms of what we can expect from the phone, the Nokia 9 PureView’s focus is obviously its camera where based on the leaks we’ve seen, will feature a penta-lens design. We’re not sure how HMD/Nokia will position the phone or what kind of features it might have that will utilize all the lenses, but other specs include a 5.9-inch display with a 2960×1440 resolution, the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, and a 4,150mAh battery.

Take it with a grain of salt for now, but since January 2019 is nearly upon us we guess we won’t have to wait much longer to get all the official details if there are any to be had.
