Apple may be looking to revamp its News offering next year if a new report is to be believed. The company is reportedly thinking about launching a premium Apple News subscription. It would obviously need to have support for publishers but apparently, they haven’t really been willing to side with it in such an initiative.

Bloomberg reports that Apple is thinking about relaunching Texture as a premium subscription within Apple News. It will allow users to read a variety of magazines for $9.99 per month. Some publishers don’t seem to be too excited about this because they feel that the subscription would prevent them from gaining new subscribers directly as the premium subscription will be a cheaper option.

The team from Apple that’s reportedly meeting with industry executives includes VP Eddy Cue and former Conde Nast executive Liz Schimel. They have been trying to convince them to join, suggesting that their subscriber growth with the premium option in Apple News may actually grow past what they can manage on their own.

Apple will pay publishers based on the time that users spend on their articles. It’s said to be interested in getting prominent newspapers such as the New York Times and Bloomberg onboard as well. Whether or not it’s actually able to win them over remains to be seen.
