The open world game concept is one that is pretty popular these days, and we’ve seen it used to great effect on games like Grand Theft Auto V and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild just to name a few. Now several years ago, EA’s Visceral Games was said to be developing an open world Star Wars game, but following the shut down of the studio, many wondered about its status.

Last year a job listing had suggested that the game could still be in the works, but now according to a report from Kotaku, that game will never see the light of day. This is because according to three people familiar with the ongoings at the company, apparently EA has decided to shut the project down.

The game was initially developed by Visceral Games as a linear action-adventure game, with EA Vancouver said to be lending a helping hand. However when Visecral shut down back in 2017, EA’s Vancouver studio took over the project which led to the previous report that said that the game could still be alive and well, where the studio was said to have rebooted the game and turned it into an open world game and kept some of its assets.

It is unclear as to why EA has decided to cancel the project as the company has yet to officially respond to the reports, but if you were looking forward to it, perhaps don’t hold your breath.
