It was reported last week that General Motors will now be leading its push in the electric vehicle market under the Cadillac brand. A teaser image of the first Cadillac electric vehicle has now been posted online. As part of the company’s new strategy, Cadillac is now its lead EV brand and will be aggressively competing in this nascent market.

The teaser was released ahead of the Detroit Auto Show. It shows that this vehicle is going to have most of Cadillac’s signature exterior design cues such as the vertical headlamps. It will start with a clean sheet approach for the interior and aspire to build something that’s more luxurious.

No further information is being shared about the first Cadillac electric vehicle aside from these images. There’s no information about what this vehicle will be called, what specs it has, and when it’s going to arrive. The company merely said that it’s going to provide these details closer to launch.

If one were to go on the images alone, it would seem that the first Cadillac electric vehicle is going to be a crossover. It will be based on GM’s next-generation BEV3 platform which is meant for flexible use in different electric vehicle types. At least nine different variants can be based on this platform, according to earlier reports.
